Nikolai Skorpe Aasprong

Name:               Nikolai Skorpe Aasprong

Role:                  Mechanical Design Engineer

Comes from:      Norway

What initially drew you to Sine Delta and the position you are in now?

“It was the desire to work with sustainability,” Nikolai shares. “I had experience in the energy sector—starting with oil and gas, then transitioning into wind energy. But I also became aware of the drawbacks of wind turbines.”

When he discovered Sine Delta, everything fell into place. "It ticked all the boxes for me: sustainable technology, cool engineering and an innovative approach that's even better than traditional wind turbines."

What were you looking for in your career that you found at Sine Delta?

“I wanted to work in a smaller company,” he explains, emphasising the variety such a role brings. “You get to try on a few more hats—work on-site, collaborate with workshops, dive into the business side of things and experience more innovation than in a larger company. I was looking for a role that would help me grow professionally and take on new challenges,” Nikolai adds. “This variety has been exactly what I needed.”

What aspect of the company inspired you to join the team?

"The curiosity of how good this technology could be was a big draw," Nikolai says. "And the technical challenges that needed solving really triggered my desire to create something innovative and new. Combining curiosity with solving technical problems is a perfect match for my engineering ambitions," he reflects.

What do you value most in your work, and how do you find that at Sine Delta?

“I value freedom a lot,” he admits. “The ability to contribute ideas, shape how we work and have an impact. I enjoy solving tricky engineering problems and shaping the processes. That makes the work both engaging and fun.”

What makes you proud to work at Sine Delta?

“We’re working on something important,” he says with pride. “I joined at the very beginning, jumping in with both feet. It’s rewarding to be part of something that’s paving the way toward a greener future. This leap has been a defining moment in my career,” Nikolai acknowledges. “It’s something I truly value.”

What’s the best part of your day at Sine Delta?

“Probably the morning,” he smiles. “When I sit down with my first coffee and think about what I’m going to tackle that day. It’s that quiet anticipation of problem-solving that really sets the tone for my day.”

What do you enjoy most about the team?

“We’re a very multinational team, which is cool because you learn a lot from different cultures,” Nikolai shares. “And being a small group, we communicate well and often. It’s not rigid and you really get to know everyone. This creates a collaborative and open work environment,” he says. “It’s something I really appreciate.”

What’s unique about working at Sine Delta?

“We’re creating something completely new—something nobody is expecting but could become incredibly important for society when it succeeds.” Nikolai also highlights the product itself. “It’s an entirely new technology and being part of developing it is unique and exciting.”

What excites you the most about Sine Delta’s technology?

"It’s the most sustainable version of wind power I know of," Nikolai says enthusiastically. "It takes little space, makes minimal sound and is made from recyclable materials. But what excites him most is the innovative approach. "Using vortex-induced vibrations is fascinating—it’s a completely different phenomenon than traditional wind turbines."

What’s one thing you’re most excited to accomplish at Sine Delta in the coming year?

“Making a working MVP,” he says without hesitation. “That’s the big goal.”

If you could describe your experience at Sine Delta in one word, what would it be? Why?

“An adventure,” Nikolai says after a thoughtful pause. “An exciting adventure.”

What’s your favourite quote?

” I often say in my free time that life is supposed to be play. I try to make everything playful—even boring tasks, I approach them like a game. I think that’s how I turn challenges into opportunities to level up,” Nikolai says with a smile.
