Meet Our Görel

Name:               Görel Wirenborn

Role:                  Mechanical Design Engineer

Comes from:      Sweden

What initially drew you to Sine Delta and the position?

“It was a really, really interesting piece of technology that made me feel both curious and excited,” Görel explains. “The chance to be one of the first engineers in a company felt like a fascinating challenge—something I couldn’t resist.”

What were you looking for in your career that you found at Sine Delta?

“I was looking for a role where I could work with technology that had a real sustainability purpose, and I found that here. Plus, being part of a smaller, dedicated team was something I really wanted.”

Why was that important?

“Having worked in a large company, I wanted more responsibility,” she reflects. “In Sweden, we have a saying, ‘from grain to loaf,’ meaning being involved in the entire process. At Sine Delta, I also appreciate the variety in my workday. I’m not just one type of engineer. I get to be several types, using all the tools in my toolbox in a single day.”

What aspect of the company inspired you to join the team?

It was the combination of technology and vision," she says. "I have a background in mechanical engineering and fluid mechanics, and Sine Delta’s approach to transforming issues into energy solutions really caught my attention. When Steven talked about making the technology of the future happen today, it resonated. Engineers thrive on working toward a finish line, and when the mission is tied to something as urgent as the climate crisis, it adds a powerful sense of purpose. You have to rethink how you work and avoid getting stuck in old processes.

What do you value most in your work, and how do you find that at Sine Delta?

“I value the process of turning ideas into reality,” Görel shares. “Taking something from concept to physical product—through modelling, calculations, and working with vendors—turning it into a physical product brings me joy. At Sine Delta, I get to do that every day, and I feel like everyone here shares that mindset of pushing forward.”

What’s the best part of your day at Sine Delta?

“I want to say “Fika!” she laughs, “But seriously, it’s when we come together as a team to tackle complex problems. That collective brainpower is the highlight of my day.”

What makes you proud to work at Sine Delta?

"I’m proud to be part of something impactful. We’re not just developing new technology, we’re addressing real concerns about existing solutions. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our work could make a real difference."

What do you enjoy most about the team?

“Everyone is eager to collaborate. There’s an open, friendly atmosphere because we’re all working toward the same goal. And we’re genuinely happy to be here.”

What is the best thing about working here?

“The innovation spirit,” Görel answers without hesitation. “We’re creating something that doesn’t exist, and we’re determined to make it real. There’s a unique level of aspiration here.”

What has been the most memorable moment so far?

Seeing the prototype for the first time," Görel recalls enthusiastically. "Understanding the concept was one thing, but seeing it physically made it all click. That was when I thought, ‘Ah, this is how we’re going to make it work.’ That was a powerful moment.

What excites you most about the coming year at Sine Delta?

“Getting to the point where we’re on-site doing installations,” she says with anticipation. “It’s going to be a lot of hard work, but it’ll be so validating. I can’t wait.”

If you could describe your experience at Sine Delta in one word, what would it be? Why?

“Overwhelming,” Görel admits. “In the best way. There’s so much to learn, and every day is a challenge. But I’m adjusting my internal engines to keep up with the pace. It’s a lot, but I’m thriving in it.”

What’s your favourite quote?

“‘I’m an engineer; I can learn anything.’ A friend of mine said that, and it stuck with me. We don’t know everything, and we’re never going to, but being an engineer means being a learning machine. It keeps me grounded.”
