Mirjam Engelsvold

Name:              Mirjam Engelsvold

Role:                 Chief Operations Officer

Comes from:     Norway

What initially drew you to Sine Delta and and your current role?
“Building something physical was very attractive to me—something tangible, real, and impactful for society,” Mirjam shares. “That was the product side of it. Of course, sustainability is essential, but I didn’t focus too much on it initially. It’s more of a fundamental requirement these days.”

“Beyond the product, the company’s culture and values mattered a lot. I had specific criteria for my new job, and one of the top priorities was a plan I could genuinely believe in. Many companies might have plans, but they’re either unrealistic or lack substance. For me, integrity is key. I need to trust that the founders mean what they say and aren’t just spinning stories to secure funding.”

When I spoke with the Sine Delta team, I felt the combination of a solid plan and trustworthy people. It wasn’t just about the product but also about the people and their commitment to quality and integrity.

What were you looking for in your career that you found at Sine Delta?
“For me, it’s essential to bring value and do work that matters,” Mirjam explains. “In a startup, everyone has to pull their weight and contribute to rapid development. It was crucial for me to have an honest conversation about my skills and how they align with the company’s needs. I value psychological safety, teamwork, and how we support each other. These aren’t just buzzwords for me—they’re essential for success. In my conversations with Steven and Trude Marit, I felt they genuinely cared about these values, and I knew I could bring that to the table.”

What aspect of the company inspired you to join the team?

It’s the magic combination of a physical product that people need and a company built on strong interpersonal values. I felt that the team believed in this balance and was fully committed to it. It’s rare to find that blend of practical innovation and genuine people-centric leadership.

What do you value most in your work, and how do you find that at Sine Delta?

“I value knowing which hill to climb and having the autonomy to figure out how to get there,” Mirjam reflects. “It’s about using all the tools in my toolbox while learning from others. The collaboration and synergy that come from combining everyone’s strengths are incredibly rewarding.”

What makes you proud to work here?
“Right now, I’m proud of being part of something that fascinates people,” Mirjam says with a smile. “When I tell others about what we’re building—a big, innovative physical product—they’re intrigued. It’s exciting to work on something that sparks curiosity and conversation.”

She continues, “I’ve been in roles before where explaining my job led to blank stares, but here, people are genuinely interested. That pride in what we’re building drives me every day.”

What’s the best part of your day at Sine Delta?

“Mornings,” Mirjam answers without hesitation. “Coming from the chaos of early mornings with my kids to the calm of the office with my coffee—it’s such a contrast. I sit down, knowing I have the whole day ahead to be productive. That anticipation of what the day will bring is something I really enjoy.”

What do you enjoy most about the team?

“I appreciate the positive atmosphere and the sense of generosity,” Mirjam shares.

“We’re still getting to know each other, and I’m aware that as we grow, there will be periods of friction. But I believe that if we remember each other’s good intentions during those tough times, we’ll navigate them productively.”

What is the best thing about working at Sign Delta?
“Right now, being a small team allows us to have a clear overview of everything,” Mirjam explains. “Everyone has dedicated tasks, and it’s easy to take ownership and run with it. There’s a strong team spirit, knowing that we’re all equally committed.”

She adds, “Of course, as we grow, we’ll lose some of that direct oversight, but for now, it’s a unique and motivating part of our work environment.”

What excites you most about Sine Delta’s technology?

Its simplicity. It’s brilliant because it’s meaningful, clever, and easy to understand—pretty much anyone can grasp it. That makes it very relatable and a strong selling point.

What’s one thing you are most excited to accomplish in the coming year?

“The first customer contracts,” she says confidently.

If you could describe your experience at Sine Delta in one word, what would it be? Why?

“Newbie,” Mirjam laughs. “Everything is still new to me, and every day is shaped by that feeling. If I had to choose another word, it would be ‘excited.’ Everything is fresh, and that makes each day exciting.”

What’s your favorite quote?

“That’s a tough one—I’m not really a quote person,” Mirjam admits. “If I had to choose a topic that means a lot to me, it would be about gratefulness. Gratefulness is something I deeply value.”
