Role:                  CEO and Founder

What inspired you to start Sine Delta? And what problem were you determined to solve?

“I spent a long time in the non-renewable energy industry, as my family has too—the majority of it, that is. I saw firsthand what’s going on with fossil fuels,” he begins. “When I started having children, I wanted a better world for them. I’d been part of the fossil fuel problem, so I wanted to find a way to change it somehow. That’s what inspired me to move into renewable energy.”

He adds, “As for the problem I’m solving, we need energy—electrical energy in particular. How can we get it without using fossil fuels? Is there another way, a better way that doesn’t already exist? That’s what I was determined to solve, so I began looking into how it could be possible.”

How did you envision Sine Delta contributing to the future of renewable energy when you founded it?

“To be part of the energy mix,” he says firmly. “An additional product to produce energy alongside others. The most used renewable energy sources are intermittent—solar and wind; they’re not always producing energy. You need multiple types of renewable energy sources to achieve the same reliability that fossil fuels have provided. They work a bit differently, and I wanted to create a product that’s part of that mix.”

What unique value does Sine Delta bring to the renewable energy landscape? How did you develop this idea?

"A sustainable approach," Steven says without hesitation. "Even the renewable energy products available today are not fully sustainable. They’ve done a good job, but they haven’t completed the sustainability profile. We’re seeing the problems now: old wind turbines can’t be fully recycled. The ones built 20 years ago are now unusable as they’re coming to the end of their working life, and you can’t fully recycle them. The same goes for solar panels, which become electronic waste. There’s a lot of work and cost on the decommissioning side, which I wanted to avoid. Future-proofing our product and making it 100% recyclable was key."

What principles guide your leadership at Sine Delta? And how do they shape the company culture?

“At Sine Delta, the leadership is guided by a few core principles: sustainability, innovation, and collaboration,” he explains. “We prioritise sustainability—not just in the products but in decision-making processes—ensuring every action aligns with our vision of a greener future.”

“Innovation drives us to challenge the status quo,” he continues, “to dare to be different and continuously improve. I want to foster a culture of curiosity and creativity. And collaboration ensures every team member has a voice. It’s about creating an inclusive environment where diverse ideas thrive.”

How does your personal experience and background influence the direction you are taking at Sine Delta?

“My entire family was in coal mining,” Steven says. “I also spent 16 years in the oil and gas industry. So, I’ve had a lifetime of experience in the fossil fuel end of the energy sector.” He smiles slightly. “My background is in mechanical engineering for over two decades, and that expertise has allowed me to channel it into developing this new product.”

What do you find most rewarding about leading Sine Delta?

“Seeing an idea turned into something real. When a simple idea is formed and, with hard work, turned into something tangible and impactful—it’s incredibly rewarding.”

What have been the most significant milestones or breakthroughs for Sine Delta under your leadership?

Intellectual property is one of the major ones. It’s foundational for the company’s success. The hard work that was done before applying for the patent has unlocked funding and reduced business risk. On the business side, solid results from analysis—showing movement principles, mechanism movements, and potential power production—have been pivotal. We’re now in the final stages of physically proving the analysis. Without working technology and intellectual property protection, we wouldn’t have a business.

How do you ensure that Sine Delta stays ahead in innovation and technology?

“By staying close to technology and its development,” Steven explains. “Constantly being updated and reading about technologies that directly influence Sine Delta keeps us ahead.”

What challenges has Sine Delta overcome, and how have they shaped the company’s journey?

“Finding funding when it’s scarce,” Steven says. “Securing government funding and going through all the stages required isn’t easy. There’s a lot of work and preparation involved, and accomplishing that has shaped our journey significantly.”

What’s one thing you want potential partners or investors to know about Sine Delta?

That we’re serious about what we’re doing. I want to shake off the “start-up” label and emphasise that we’re a serious business doing serious things and we’re in it for the long term. It’s not a pie-in-the-sky idea or something that will disappear in five years. It’s a long-term investment in the future.

What excites you most about the future of Sine Delta and its technology?

“Seeing it in use,” Steven says. “Driving by a place and seeing our product there. It’s also exciting for my children to see it and say, ‘Papa made that.’”

If you had to describe Sine Delta’s journey so far in one word, what would it be and why?

“Difficult,” he says. “Building physical tech is not easy. Things take a long time, and there are lots of moving parts—not just the technology but also the business that supports it. You need to move fast before running out of money. There are so many decisions to make early, and you don’t necessarily know if they’re correct until years later. It’s a constant balancing act.”

What message would you like to share with those who are just learning about Sine Delta?

“We’re working on the future of energy needs,” Steven says earnestly. “And we require everyone’s support. Whether it’s a like on a LinkedIn post, investment support, or help with networking—every bit helps.”

What is your favourite leadership quote and how does it guide your work at Sine Delta?

Steven thinks for a moment. “I don’t have a specific quote,” he admits, “but my principle is: ‘Do it right.’ Don’t cut corners because it will come back to bite you in the end.” He smiles. “Spending time and effort to do things properly pays dividends later.”
